Cotentin Windmill of Fierville-les-Mines

Built in 1744, the Cotentin Windmill is a tower mill with a 360° rotating roof.
It operated until 1848, when it was forced to shut down, unable to compete with the rise of industrial flour mills.
Like many traditional windmills, it gradually disappeared in the face of modern steam-powered machinery.
In 1997, the Cotentin Windmill became the first restored windmill in the Manche department, featuring the Berton sail system, thanks to financial support from the General Council and the Portbail Community of Communes.
Since opening to the public, the site has welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors per year, including 1,500 to 2,000 children participating in educational workshops.
