The “Club des Vikings Volants” is a microlight flying club based in Portbail-sur-Mer, Normandy. The club is dedicated to light aviation and brings together enthusiasts of microlight flying.

Portbail Flying Vikings Club


Take to the skies with the Club des Vikings Volants, founded in 1989 in Portbail (Manche, Normandy), which brings together ultralight aircraft (ULM) enthusiasts from the Cotentin. Based at the Portbail airfield since 1991, this association, affiliated with the French ULM Federation (FFPLUM), aims to promote, develop, and make ULM flying accessible to everyone.
Activities and services offered:
Introductory flights / Discovery flights: On tandem weight-shift microlight aircraft with experienced pilots, to discover the Côte des Isles, coastal landscapes, dunes, and the bocage.
Flight school: Introduction and advanced training in ULM piloting.
Aerial outings & events: Tourist flights, participation in fly-ins and airshows.
Maintenance: Workshops and infrastructure for the maintenance of the club's ULMs.
Two classes of ULMs are represented:
Weight-shift microlight: Powered delta wing (53 to 80hp), piloting by shifting the center of gravity.
Paramotor & Paraplane: Cart or backpack with engine and flexible wing like a paraglider, ultralight aircraft, easily transportable.
The club provides a two-seater weight-shift ULM for its members.
Practical information and tips:
Flights are by appointment, weather permitting. Bring a windbreaker, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses. It is possible to bring a camera or camcorder with a strap.
To access the airfield: follow the signs for “le port” then “centre équestre”, continue 100 m, then turn right.
