Visit to Mont Saint-Michel

Le mont saint Michel

Mont Saint-Michel is one of the most iconic tourist sites in France, located in Normandy, about an hour from our house!

Mont Saint-Michel has a rich history that dates back to the 8th century. According to legend, the Archangel Michael appeared to Bishop Aubert of Avranches and asked him to build a church on the mount.

The Mont Saint-Michel Abbey is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, featuring both Gothic and Romanesque styles. It includes several buildings, such as the abbey church, the cloister, and the monks’ quarters.

Mont Saint-Michel is a rocky islet located in a vast, flat bay. It is surrounded by shifting sands and some of the strongest tides in Europe, which can turn the mount into an island or a peninsula depending on the tides.
The bay offers spectacular scenery, with panoramic views of the mount, the sea, and the stretches of sand.

Guided tours are available to discover the history and architecture of the abbey and the village. Guides share fascinating anecdotes and historical facts.
